- Address Retrace is the top half
of a Credit Report. The listing usually contains the
subject's Social Security Number, employer, spouse's
initial, and year of birth, and the last three addresses.
- Bankruptcies, Tax Liens & Judgments:
is a state wide check that provides up to 10 years'
history of derogatory financial information filed against
an individual or a business on a county, state and
federal level. Superior, municipal, and small claims
judgments are noted. Good for obtaining names of spouses,
partners, locating businesses, addresses, file date and
number, amount of judgment and/or lien and status of each
filing. Sometimes provides social security number and/or
tax ID numbers.
- California State Board of Equalization:
is a state wide check of retail sales businesses, or
people who hold resale permits. Can be checked by either
the business name, the name of the individual, or an
address. Good source for locating businesses, addresses,
partners, and dates in assets investigations.
- Superior and Municipal Court Criminal
Filings: provide a history of criminal charges
filed against an individual, including file date, file
number and possible alias names and level of charges.
Generally would require a follow-up search within the
appropriate county for conviction and sentencing
information.
- Upper and Lower CourtCivil Filings
provide a history of civil litigation for an individual
or a business. For Upper Court this includes lawsuits
involving at least $25,000; for Lower Court this includes
lawsuits less than $25,000. Research of the actual files
can reveal names of spouses, social security numbers,
names of other plaintiffs/defendants, other business
affiliations, history of specific types of litigation.
- Docket Scan is a method of having
civil or criminal dockets read or purchased in any county
in the United States. It gives an overview of what is on
file, and list the printouts that are available.
- Fictitious Business Name Index is
a county wide check, either by business name, or the name
of an individual. It is useful in identifying the
ownership of a business, or in locating business assets
of a person.
- California Death Index is always
about three years behind. It is on Microfiche which we
keep in our office. The index list all deaths in
California from 1940 through 1993. Useful in heir
searching and in Probate cases. The fiche list the
initials of the spouse, sex, date of death, and county
index number. Will also list the subject's Social
Security Number.
- Photo History on a Vehicle is a
certified copy of all transfer records on that vehicle.
The record is available for the last three years, and can
be pulled one year at a time. Includes the signature of
each person who signed a document, and the date there on.
Necessary when vehicle ownership must be known, and there
are multiple transfers on file.
- California Driving Record list
violations, citations and accidents for the last three
years, and drunk driving and other violations for up to
seven years. The record also list the vehicle license
number of the vehicles driven. The record is useful for
finding employers and friends and frequented areas. The
driving record no longer gives the subject's address
unless the record is obtained for service of process.
- California Marriage Index is a
listing of all people who have been married in California
between 1960 and 1986. It lists couples by any name used
in a marriage license application, and list prior
marriages. Excellent database for identifying women whose
names have changed with subsequent marriages. (Note: It
is possible to obtain an unregistered marriage in
California by paying additional fees, but this is not
common.)
- Dun & Bradstreet Business Reports are
used to identify credit risks. They are useful in
identifying corporate principals and their backgrounds
and personal information. This database can also locate
parent or subsidiary companies
- Real Property is checked by both
SITUS and the person's or company's NAME, and can be
checked state wide or by the county. Additionally the
property address can be checked in the computer for all
tax bills sent to that address, regardless of the name on
the property. This type of check finds properties that
are in the name of a trust or partnerships, and is done
on all assets investigations. In addition to the address
check, "Like" property sales are checked. This
allows an educated guess as to the current value of the
questioned property without having an expensive real
estate appraiser involved.
- Popular Literature Search is
useful for finding experts on any subject you can think
of. This database will list the newspaper or magazine,
the date of publication, the page number and the author
of any article written on any subject. If you wish to
know about cuts from beer cans, or the dangers of any
lollipop stick, you can be sure that someone has written
about it.
- Social Security Trace is a
printout of the names and addresses of people using the
SSN entered. It is useful to locate current addresses,
and current names of women. The database will list up to
three people using the number, and up to three addresses
of each. The database is a product of the credit reports
used nation wide. (Only researched in conjunction with an attorney in a
documented criminal or civil proceeding)
- SURNAME SCAN is a database that
matches names, addresses and listed phone numbers of up
to 200 individuals who share common surname. Sources of
information include telephone white pages, publisher's
mailing lists, U.S. Postal Service forwarding orders,
real estate information and registered voter files.
- Professional Licensing Searches
provides the name and address of an individual or a
business that is licensed to perform specific
professional services. It recorded by state licensing
authorities.
- Info: PROBES scan more than 500
databases in 50 locations (states). If the subject's name
appears, then the appropriate database can be searched
for specifics. The Probe has a variety of applications
and each Application Probe searches those specific
databases applicable to the type of research being
conducted:
- People Locator Probes
- Individual Background Probes
- Business Background Probes
- Pre-Trial Preparation Probes
- Due Diligence Probes
